About renting a space at NIMBY -

Located at the foot of the Bay Bridge in West Oakland, Nimby is situated in one of the most up and coming districts of Oakland. West Oakland has long been an arts district known for it's Victorian homes and warehouse lofts, but only recently has it been the focus of concerted development efforts by the City of Oakland and the State of California.

The Mandela parkway, a mere half a block from NIMBY's front door, forms a corridor between the bustling business district of Emeryville to the north and Jack London Square to the south. The project will provide a tree-lined parkway and arboretum roughly 18 blocks long, or 1.3 miles in length, with approximately 14 acres of landscaping consisting of nearly 1,000 trees and include 1920s-style street lamps, benches, fountains, bike and walking trails, and a Welcome-to-Oakland arch. West Oakland BART is conveniently located a mile away and is the only transportation hub served by all the Transbay lines. Less than a mile along the Mandela Parkway in the other direction brings you to the shopping districts of Emeryville, rapidly becoming one of the most elitist in the Bay area.

Nimby has a variety of resources available to its tenants -
More electricity than you could ever need, up to 380. If you need more than that, we don't want you here- you are a probably a hazard.
Cranes and hoists - we have 2 5 ton bridge cranes, and 5 1 ton hoists strategically located in the workshop areas.
House air - don't think much about it until you need it.
Great light - skylight galore, an entire eastern facing wall, in fact.
High ceilings - as much as 24 feet high

Our spaces vary from 10" by 8", 8" by 20", 8" by 40", 7" by 10" and others. Square footage rates vary from $1.50 to $2.50 depending on use, length of time and what the particulars are of your situation. On occasion we do offer diminished rates to artists in need or artists of merit. You would be best served by calling to make an appointment to see the space and discuss with us what your needs are.
